Birgit Unterholzner studierte Germanistik, Geografie und Medienkunde an der Universität Innsbruck. Sie absolvierte mehrjährige Ausbildungen in den Bereichen Theaterpädagogik, Forumtheater und Hatha-Yoga. Bildungsreisen nach Asien, Afrika und Nordamerika. Heute lebt sie als Schriftstellerin und Mittelschullehrerin in Bozen. Im Picus Verlag erschienen ihre Bilderbücher »Auf meinem Rücken wächst ein Garten« (2016, illustriert von Leonora Leitl) sowie »Vielleicht warst du ein Flügelschlag« (2018, illustriert von Clara Frühwirth).
