Today the term Bauhaus is virtually synonymous with an entire age. In fact it was a college for design which existed for only 14 years and which did not have more than 1,250 students during that time. The historical Bauhaus is linked with three places, namely Weimar, the place where the Bauhaus was founded in 1919; then with the move to Dessau 1925, and the opening of the Bauhaus building which is known today as an icon of Modernism and the masters houses; and finally with its closure by the National Socialists in Berlin 1933.This book leads for the first time to all Bauhaus locations in Germany. The presentation combines historical and current photographs. A comprehensive service section and detailed maps make the volume not only a practical handbook but also a good travel companion.

Unter dem Titel "Bauhaus Kooperation Berlin Dessau Weimar" arbeiten die sammlungsführenden Bauhaus-Institutionen Deutschlands zusammen: das Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung, Berlin, die Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau und die Klassik Stiftung Weimar. Die 2013 gestartete Initiative "Triennale der Moderne" widmet sich in Berlin, Weimar und Dessau 2013, 2016 und 2019 dem Welterbe der Architekturmoderne in Deutschland. Das Projekt ist ein erster Schritt auf dem Weg zum 100-jährigen Bauhausjubiläum 2019, für das es ab 2015 unter dem Motto "Die Welt neu denken" ein umfangreiches, gemeinsames Programm mit Forschungsprojekten und länderübergreifenden Ausstellungen zur globalen Wirkungsgeschichte des Bauhauses geben wird.
