'Foreign Investments in Agriculture' The trend towards large-scale investments in agricultural land in developing countries bears the risk of human rights abuses. To ensure responsible agricultural investments, reforms in the countries concerned are needed. On the other side provisions of International Investment Treaties appear to limit the regulatory space of host states, which might makes it difficult for host governments to adopt pro-development policies.

Anna Opel studierte Rechtswissenschaften mit dem Schwerpunkt Europa- und Völkerrecht an der Universität Leipzig und promovierte an der Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen. Während ihres Studiums nahm sie an verschiedenen Konferenzen wie dem World Investment Forum 2014 in Genf teil und war aktives Mitglied in verschiedenen Delegationen der European Law Students' Association, u.a. entsandt zum Forum on Minority Issues des United Nations Human Rights Council. Promotionsbegleitend war sie in verschiedenen Wirtschaftskanzleien in Leipzig, Mannheim und Frankfurt am Main tätig. Seit 2015 ist sie Rechtsreferendarin am LG Darmstadt.
